Ibiza Sun and Arriving in Heelsum

During the crisis I escaped the homeland and wandered around Ibiza for 3 months. I drank my hangovers away in the burning sun surrounded by water and rocks. I was shocked to see the world was still there when I arrived home in Heelsum, the village in which my dad lived and took care of my cat.

This painting was part of a group exhibition featuring mostly black and white analogue photography. I wanted to fit this look, so the day before opening night I collected some white lacquered panels near dumps on the street and drew stories I’ve lived in black marker.
