2022, 710 x 615 MM, marker on trash panel
I was at a boxing night in Arnhem with a good friend. The night ended with a brutal underdog knockout followed with riots from the crowd who all supported this Turkish boxing champion who just went down hard. We made a quick escape as fireworks, smoke and running Turks surrounded us.
This painting was part of a group exhibition featuring mostly black and white analogue photography. I wanted to fit this look, so the day before opening night I collected some white lacquered panels near dumps on the street and drew stories I’ve lived in black marker.
